The Director General of the World Health Organisation, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has today made a heartily call on the international community to remember the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi.
The WHO Chief, who is on his first visit to Rwanda that is focused on promoting universal health coverage made the statement at Nyamata Genocide memorial site where remains of 45,000 victims are kept.
“Very shocking, brutal and evil–beyond words. The world should not forget this genocide,” observed Dr. Tedros.
He had paid tribute to the victims that were laid to rest at Nyamata Roman Catholic Church where they were killed by the genocide perpetrators.
While in Bugesera District Dr. Tedros visited Mayange Health Centre and is expected to visit other places during his two-day visit.
