New finance minister commits socio-economic dev’t

The newly elevated Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Dr. Uzziel Ndagijimana has committed to emphasise the country’s socio-economic development, he said this during a handover ceremony at the ministry.
“I intend to continue the good work by my predecessor Minister Claver Gatete in championing socio-economic development of Rwandans. Given the task ahead, continued cooperation, collaboration hard work from everyone at the Ministry will be essential in delivering on our mandate,” Minister Ndagijimana said.
At the ceremony, the outgoing minister Claver Gatete, who head to the ministry of infrastructure thanked his former team for their unreserved support during his tenure as the finance minister.
“I wish to thank the minister of finance and the entire staff of the Ministry for the close collaboration we’ve had during my time here. He has been part and parcel of the achievements we have registered. We will continue to cooperate and collaborate to serve the interest of our country,” He said.
Gatete has headed the finance ministry for the past five years, the recent changes in cabinet saw the firing of James Musoni from the infrastructure ministry and appointment of Ndagijimana, who was the state minister for economic planning, a position that will now be filled by Dr. Claudine Uwera.
