Rwanda Investigation Bureau launched

Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) was on this Wednesday given its judicial police functions by the Rwanda National Police. The newly formed body received judicial functions including criminal and counter-terrorism investigation, crime intelligence, and economic and financial crimes investigation.
Police handed over responsibilities including more than 400 judicial police officers who worked for the police.
"Today is a big day in the history of our country especially in the rule of law. Its a journey started in 1990 and a journey for good and forever," said said Johnston Busingye, the Minister of Justice at the Police headquarters in Kacyiru. this is expected to ease the work on all parties in the justice sector and improve professionalism and efficiency.
The head of the new agancy, Col Jeannot Ruhunga said that they will focus on cybercrime, human trafficking, drug trafficking and corruption among others.
