At least eight were killed and 15 others kidnapped by the Allied Defense Forces militias in the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) during fresh fighting that rocked the region over the weekend authorities in Beni township confirmed to media.
Donat Kibwana an administrator in Beni said the 15 included children.
Sources say a lorry driver was torched to death together with six occupants while one person was killed in Oicha.
ADF who launched a military rebellion against the Ugandan government in 2001 have been blamed for death of about 700 civilians and displacement of thousands.
Last December, the same militia group assaulted the blue helmet United Nations peacekeepers leading to death of about 15 who were exclusively Tanzanian nationals.
This year DRC will go to the polls but the opposition claims the biggest, mineral rich African nation is not ready to host fair and free elections, claims which the government continues to deny.
