Rwanda National Police (RNP) has announced today that they have arrested Mountain Church Bishop Liliane Mukabadege over lying to them that she headed to a radio yet she determined to go to a Church in the periphery of the capital Kigali, an action against the directives issued by the government of Rwanda on March20.
The Police have said that they stalked Bishop Mukabadege up to a Church in Kimisagara which was her planned destination. They have also impounded her vehicle.
“Rwanda National Police (RNP) has arrested Bishop Liliane Mukabadege, and her vehicle impounded after lying to police officers that she was going to Radio. Officers followed her and found that she was actually going to a church at Kimisagara in @Nyarugenge,” tweeted the Police on April5.
Places of worship, entertainment and games, schools and universities were altogether closed in time as one of the measures to prevent the spread of the novel Coronavirus that has so far been identified in some 102 people.
“In order to further mitigate the spread of COVID-19 coronavirus, the Ministry of Local Government in coordination with other concerned institutions announces the following:
“Prayer activities; it is not permitted to move worship and prayer activities to unauthorized places of any kind, such as prayer rooms , private homes, or caves,” the statement reads in parts. The enhanced prevention measures against the spread of COVID-19 pandemic restrict operations of bars in Kigali and other cities while worship and prayer activities are restricted to exclusively authorized and gazetted places.
