Jean Gualbert Burasa died today at King Faysal where he has been undergoing treatment since he was struck by stroke leading to surgery operation on his brains. The Exesecutive Secretary of Rwanda journalist Association (ARJ) confirmed the sad news of Burasa’s death to the media.
Ernest Nyetera, The Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Light Publications Limited, has described Burasa as a brave and diligent journalist who would not sleep when there is a story to work on.
“I am deeply saddened by the sudden death of my fellow journalist and neighbour, Jean Gualbert Burasa He would double check and crosscheck facts in his story and even ask fellow editors where he needs clarification and that is exactly how I came to know him and we became friends.. He is a kind of journalist who will not sleep when there is a story to write and/or edit. Rest in eternal peace,” said Nyetera.
Burasa started journalism in 1993 working with Rwanda Rushya and he is later on of the survivors of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi who were liberated at St. Paul by the RPF-Inkotanyi freedom fighters. By then, Burasa was working at Muhabura Radio and later he joined Radio Rwanda
Burasa is survived by a wife and three children.
