Uganda releases 12 more Rwandans

Eric Nzabirinda

Uganda has released more 12 Rwandan nationals that were illegally arrested, tortured and detained over alleged espionage related crimes.

The Ugandan Police and some employees from Uganda’s immigration handed over the 12 Rwandans to Rwandan authorities at Kagitumba border post this morning.

Rwanda-Uganda relations severed more than two years ago, a crisis that lead to the closure of the Gatuna border early 2019. And, among the pressing issues Rwanda presented to Uganda include arbitrary arrest, torture and detention of its people on the Ugandan territory.
