Rwanda conveys condolences to Lebanese Gov’t over loss of lives in Tuesday explosion

Rwandan government has conveyed condolences to the Lebanese government and families of the victims following the August4th massive explosion that killed over hundred people and injured thousands.

The Lebanese Health Ministry reported that at least 135 perished and 5,000 injured in an explosion at the Port of Beirut.

“The government of Rwanda expresses its sincere condolences to the Lebanese government and to the families of the victims and wishes a speedy recovery to the many injured following the tragic explosion that occurred on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at the port of Beirut,” said the government of the Republic of Rwanda through a tweet on August5.

Lebanese authorities have said that more than 300,000 have been displaced from homes while hundreds are still missing.  The government has declared a state of emergency for two weeks in Beirut.

The cause of the explosion, which also caused huge damage at the port was not immediately established.
