Musanze District Mayor, Ramuli Janvier has today said that his people have massively responded to the COVID-19 vaccination call although some “little resistance” still exists. He said as authorities they’re vigilantly continuing with mass mobilization to stamp out the little resistance among a few residents.

“Surely, residents have massively responded to the COVID-19 vaccination call,” observed Ramuli.

Ramuli revealed that around 231, 000 residents translating to over 50 per cent of the residents of Musanze District have already been fully vaccinated, falling slightly below the target of 261,388 by 2022.

Ramuli remarked during a phone interview with this reporter today.

At least 88 per cent out of 432,000 habitants of the Musanze District have received the first jab of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The Mayor said that the efforts to step up mobilization to deal with the little resistance against COVID-19 vaccination were ongoing, and he is optimistic they will meet the district’s target.

“There’s some little resistance, but with the ongoing mobilization, the mindset against COVID-19 vaccination will be history sooner than later,” he added.

There’s one permanent vaccination site in all the 15 sectors that make up Musanze District, complemented by two mobile sites.

Ramuli explained that the mobile sites go to high-risk places such as markets, Churches (on Sundays) and bus parks where there is heavy traffic.

Earlier, this reporter visited two mobile COVID-19 vaccination sites located at the Musanze Bus Park and at the Foods market along the street that leads to Stade Ubworoherane Musanze.

At the entrance of the bus park, vigilance was high and both uniformed and volunteers in casual wear were only allowing into the bus park people that had already received all the jabs on displaying the RBC certificates as proof.

The unvaccinated passengers are led to the mobile site planted just at the entrance.

At Kariyeri  as the local folks call the site at the market area, there were two queues of residents that were waiting to receive the COVID-19 vaccination jabs.
