Gabon Military Junta gov’t puts polls in two years

The new Gabonese Prime Minister Raymond Ndong Sima has said that country may hold the next Presidential election within two years. Gen Brice Oligui Nguema who became Gabonese President after a military coup on August 30, appointed Ndong Sima the new Premier.  

Several African leaders condemned the military coup. Also, the West particularly France denounced this military coup.

Ali Bongo had ruled the Gabonese people since 2009. He continued from his father President Omara Bongo who ruled the central African nation for 41 years.

The junta ended a political dynasty that has existed for pretty much 55 years.

Along the arrest of President Ali Bongo, the military dissolved both chambers of Parliament and many key government institutions.

Ali Bongo is no longer under house arrest conditions, he can travel abroad if he wishes, the junta regime announced two days ago.
