By George Kalisa

The Ministry of Local Government on July14 ordered some residents in some cells of Nyamagabe and Nyamasheke to be under a lockdown for at least 15 days. The directive was motivated by the advice of the Ministry of Health in its efforts to slow down the spread of COVID-19 in the country.

The affected cells include: Kigeme, Gasaka Sector and Ruhunga, Kibirizi Sector in Nyamagabe District while Mubuga, Gitwa, Jurama in Nyamasheke District, said the statement released by the Ministry of Local Government late yesterday.

The statement further said that communities settled along the road that leads to Lake Kivu, part of Butare Cell are also under a lockdown.

Authorities have, thus, called on the local leaders to enforce the directive as well as asking the residents across the country to continue abiding by the measure in place as the country invests massive efforts to contain the Coronavirus pandemic.
