Five killed in Sudanese pro-democracy protests

At least five were killed and several wounded on Saturday during Sudanese pro-democracy protests against October25 military coup that dissolved the transitional government. The Saturday deaths raise the death toll to 19 since the military coup happened.  

Activists in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum told Agencies that the military fired live ammunitions at angry crowds on the streets as clouds of tear gas and smoke from burning materials decorated the street in city.

The African country has hosted running battles between the security forces and the civilian populations that continue to denounce the military rule since country’s longtime strongman Omar al-Bashir, April 2019 was overthrow by his military.  

This last Thursday General Abdel-Fattah al-Burhan reinstated himself as the head of Sudan’s Interim governing body [Sovereign Council] a move that evoked anger from pro-democracy Sudanese leading and highly regarded as a recipe to yesterday’s protests However, the Sudanese police denies using live ammunition to disperse the rioters and maintains that the protesters attacked the police living about 40 with grave injuries.
