Militiamen seize villages close to borders of Uganda, Rwanda

Militiamen allegedly linked to the M23 attacked at least two villages in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) last night the local folks in the gold rich African nation told Agencies today. The areas attacked are the fortresses of the M23 that was flushed out in 2013 after they had shortly occupied a few Congolese towns including Goma.
In 2013 Force Intervention Brigade (United Nations) and the Congolese Army combed Runyoni and Tshanzu and flushed out the M23 rebels. Now, Lt. Col. Muhindo Luanzo and local leader of Rutshuru territory is quoted by reporters confirming that they are the same villages that were attacked on Sunday overnight.
Residents of the fated villages and from the neighbourhoods fled into Uganda through Bunagana border post. A Red cross official confirmed to Agencies that Congolese people are crossing into neighbouring Uganda in large numbers.
The two villages are about 50Kms away from the Provincial Capital, Goma, which had received a security alert from the United Nations of a “potential attack, a few hours before the incident.
