Rwanda Says, There’s Still Need to Pay Attention to Underlying Unresolved Issues

Rwanda’s government Spokesperson, Yolande Makolo on March 16, 2022 reiterated need for Uganda to pay attention to unresolved issues including hostile groups still operating on Ugandan soils. Makolo said enemies of Rwanda based in Uganda are promoting hateful media propaganda, and Rwanda is awaiting action by Ugandan authorities to the day.
“Despite all the positivity and progress of the 2nd visit to Kigali by Lt. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, there’s still need to pay attention to underlying unresolved issues, raised from the start, of known hostile persons bent on destabilizing Rwanda, still operating in Uganda,” said Makolo in a tweet.
“Also pending is continued hateful media propaganda produced by Uganda-based individuals incl. Obed Katurebe aka RPF Gakwerere, Sula Nuwamanya, Gerald Tindifa, Robert Higiro, Asiimwe Kanamugire, etc. We patiently await action by Ugandan authorities on this unfinished business,” added Makolo.
Makolo made the remarks the day Lt. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba completed his three-day visit to Rwanda during which he discussed with President Paul Kagame.
Lt. Gen. Muhoozi, however, said after concluding his three-day visit to Kigali that the high cost of PCR tests for Covid-19 that negatively impacts border crossings was one of the issues they discussed and will be addressed soon.
“One of the issues we discussed concerned the few difficulties still connected with the border opening (the high cost of PCR tests for Covid-19 etc). President Paul Kagame assured me all that will be sorted out,” tweeted Muhoozi.
What is visible, however, friendship between Uganda and Rwanda is fast recovering. Kagame gave 10 cows to Muhoozi.
“I thank His Excellency Kaguta Museveni for giving me the opportunity to serve my nation by helping to rebuild the very important strategic relationship between Uganda and Rwanda.”
“In our interlacustrine culture, especially amongst pastoralists like the Banyankore, Banyarwanda, Karimojong, Dinka and Masai there is no greater demonstration of friendship than somebody giving you a cow. Afande Kagame ampeire enyena ikumi zempano omunte ze ze’inyambo!” said Muhoozi.
Regarding Rwanda’s concerns mentioned by Makolo, Ugandan authorities are yet to take steps in this direction.
