Rwandan President Paul Kagame said that Africa stands united in the face of increasing effects of greenhouse gas emissions. Kagame said the Continent wants fairness and equal partnership.

“Africa stands united and should remain so in this and in its position,” said Kagame.

“Ultimately, what Africa wants is fair and equal partnership, which takes our priorities into account,” he added.

Kagame said that the Continent continues to carry the burden of rising temperatures, despite contributing the smallest share of global greenhouse gas emissions and scorned the trend of playing the blame game by nations instead of finding tangible solutions.

He called on African leaders to take appropriate action instead of talking.

“We cannot just keep talking about it without doing what is required to fix the problem,” said Kagame

“A more pragmatic approach is for Africa to be a key player in the search for global climate solutions. Ultimately, what Africa wants is fair and equal partnership, which takes our priorities into Account,” observed Kagame during the Africa Cimate Summit 2023 on September 5, in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi.

“This is unfair, but in the long run, playing the blame  is not the answer,” added the Rwandan President.

Burundian President Evariste Ndayishimye chaired the East African Community (EAC) meeting that was hosted by President William Ruto.
