Thugs stole money from Rulindo grave

Unknown people robbed corpse of money after exhuming a grave in a cemetery on September 8 in Rulindo District in Rwanda’s Northern Province, local media has reported. 

The money was found in the clothes that covered the corpse exposed after demolishing the coffin according to eyewitnesses mostly residents of Buriza, Mugambazi in Murambi Sector where the saddening incident happened.

All started when fear-stricken mourners that were at the same cemetery yesterday to lay the remains of their beloved one to rest found gaping grave.  

Over Rwf500,000 was mistakenly left in clothes buried together with the remains of a man who was a resident of Gashinge village, three months ago.

After a cautious search, the window remembered the money was kept in the clothes that were buried with the remains of her husband.  Villagers said the window had shared the information with members of her community.

Jean de Dieu Niyonzima, a local leader at Mugambazi cell told local media that they reburied the corpse in the presence of family members and representatives of Rwanda Investigative Bureau (RIB).

Niyonzima said the robbers ran away with the clothes as well.  

By press time, no single suspect had been arrested.
