“Our visit here is an opportunity to deepen the friendship between Rwanda and Congo, and strengthen cooperation for the benefit of the citizens of our two countries,” remarked Kagame on Monday at the beginning of his three-day state visit.

On Monday evening President Denis Sassou Nguesso hosted a State Banquet in honour of President Kagame when he made more exciting revelation underlying the strong bonds between the two nations.

Kagame said that over the years the two nations built a strong foundation through multiple agreements that demonstrate “the productive ties Rwanda and Congo”.

He reiterated the invaluable need to join forces as to continue fast tracking progress, adding that crises including COVID-19 pandemic have given a lesson about the unity of African countries.

“We have what it takes to address common challenges, joining forces to ensure that we continue to move our countries faster towards progress and success.

“There many challenges we have to overcome,” added Kagame.

“Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic and other crises, African countries cannot afford to do things alone. And, it is in this background President that we value so much the friendship between the Congolese people and Rwandese and I value our relationship with you Mr. President,” remarked Kagame.

Earlier in the day, Kagame while addressing both chambers of Parliament stressed the need to continue making steps towards integration and unity of African nations, saying with the vast resources and knowledge in the continent, lamentations would be absent.

“Africa has been talking about integration and unity for as long as Africa has existed. We need to continue making fast steps. With the vast knowledge and resources our continent has, there is no reason to still be where we are today”.

“There are conflicts on the continent that have lasted decades, and there is no explanation for that, other than not doing what we know is right. It is high time to do better.”
