Gen. Muhoozi’s Deactivation of Twitter A/C Sparks Widespread Suspicion

Uganda’s Lt Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba deactivated his official Twitter Account with pretty much 500K late April 11, state-bent media houses have editorialized today.
The General who has made big headlines due to his pursuit of peace in the region particularly mending the relations between his country and Rwanda has not revealed reasons behind his unprecedented action, sparking growing suspicion and mixed reactions.
Some say Twitter suspended his account alleging encroachment on civil liberties of ‘perceived victims’ of his tweets and “over violation of its civic integrity policy”.
However, local media maintain that Gen. Muhoozi deactivated his account backing this assertion by ICT differences in the flags: “Account Suspended” and “this account doesn’t exist” whereby when any user deactivates their own accounts the latter will appear.
Lt. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, son to Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, currently serving as Senior Presidential Advisor in Charge of Special Operations and the Commander of the Land Forces in the landlocked East African (EAC) nation.
By press time, Gen. Muhoozi had made no single comment on his action.
Political pundits in the region contend that the tweets made the formerly reserved Army Officer jump out of the shadow to the limelight.
“Well, Twitter decided to Jump the gun to save Ugandans from the irritating, awful, treasonous tweets that were risking their lives,” Uganda’s opposition political Party, FDC celebrated through its official Twitter Account.
