Ninety-nine Rwandan girls from across Rwanda have passed out after undergoing a two-week long training on various aspects of life including survival skills, Rwandan and Islamic values.
The platform dubbed ‘Igikari Holiday Camp’ was organized by Uwineza Iman Josiane aka Miss Jojo, the Founder of this initiative. Miss Jojo, is a celebrated Rwandan R&B Singer.
The training ended September10 with a call on parents to promote the values and skills reinforced by this year’s edition holiday camp.
“As leaders we call on parents of the trainees to preserve and promote the values, knowledge and skills they gained during the last two weeks,” observed Magellan Sebatware, the Director of Good Governance, Bugesera District.
The beneficiaries said that the knowledge they gained will help them prepare for a better future they yearn for.
Uwineza said that Igikari Holiday Camp is a platform that promotes freedom of expression among girls, and helps them to exchange ideas in a free environment.
She said that the resource persons that facilitate the free discussions base on the information the young girls give to provide appropriate guidance that is compatible with the Islamic teachings and Rwandan values.
“Igikari Holiday Camp is a platform that aims at providing a free environment for girls to open up and break the silence especially on the challenges and barriers they encounter as they grow. This opportunity will not be limited to only girls though they started with,” said Uwineza.
“By speaking out their minds in the discussions sessions, it helps them to achieve not only physiological growth but also intellectual development,” she added.
